Psychology of Childhood and Youth (E219) Springboard Day

So often at the revision weekends, students say “If only we had this overview of the course earlier in the year”. That’s why OUPS (the Open University Psychological Society) created overview days. Overview days provide a framework for the whole course and help students to understand what to focus on in TMAs and the exam. Feedback from students has been that these days are inspirational and packed with content, making them excellent value in terms of time and money. But students have then said, ‘It would have been even better to have had this right at the start of the module?’ Hence Springboard Days.

The day comprises four sessions. Subject areas are:

  1. Introduction to E219 and Cognitive Development
  2. Identity and Emotional Development
  3. Attachment; and study skills
  4. Communication; and writing good essays

Registration will take place from 9.30am. Lectures will start at 10.00 am. The day will finish at approximately 3.00pm.

Tutors and programmes

Dr Alan Pechey is a very experienced OU psychology tutor. He currently tutors on E219 and DE200 (having previously been a tutor for over 20 years on OU child development and cognitive psychology courses) and is a popular tutor at residential Schools and OUPS Weekends. He has a Masters (in cognitive development) and a PhD (looking at human memory) from Cambridge University.

Please note that no advice on specific TMAs will be given.

Please note that we may have available places on the day but all tickets will be £45 (no member discount). We therefore recommend that you book in advance to benefit from our members discount (if applicable).
